Students who have trained Tai-Chi Chuan over a period of time, for as little as
ten minutes a day, have experienced the some of the following:
Relaxation:
Physical tension in the body is greatly reduced and this leads over time to a reduction in mental tension. Progress in training Tai-Chi Chuan clears the mind. Thinking becomes more lucid, the mind more peaceful, the temper more gentle. People have found that headaches and migraine are eliminated.
Improved Blood and Circulation:
Those with poor blood circulation find that the hands, and later the feet, become warmer, and they are more able to withstand the cold of winter.
Healing:
Old injuries are often the cause of pain many months or years after the
original problem. Training in Tai-Chi Chuan will draw out such injuries, causing some beginner students to complain that they feel more aches and pain since starting Tai-Chi Chuan. After some weeks or months of training (depending on the extent of the original injury) these aches and pains are gone.
Internal Changes:
Problems with incorrect blood pressure have been corrected after training for some months. Regular training improves the elasticity of the blood vessels and skin tissue and thereby has the potential to slow the ageing process.
Students who have trained ten to fifteen minutes a day dissipates stress and reduces stress-related debilities, increases stamina, and strengthens the body .

Each class meets one hour a week, 7-8 pm on Tuesday evenings, at the Concept School in Westtown, Pennsylvania. Students can dress comfortably, usually wearing sneakers or soft shoes, sweats, or shorts with a loose shirt or tee shirt. It’s not necessary to have any prior knowledge of martial arts to learn Tai Chi with our expert Tai Chi instruction. I’ve noticed that many students eager to learn Tai Chi Chuan often struggle to find the time in their busy lives. This is often due to a type 'A' personality that is stressed out and juggling too many responsibilities, unable to find the stop button. A successful student recognizes this challenge and commits to making time for Tai Chi classes. In Cheng Man-Ching's Advanced T'ai Chi Form Instructions, compiled and translated by Douglas Wile, Great Grandmaster Cheng Man-Ching describes three common faults among students. The first fault is a lack of perseverance—he notes that studying this art (tai chi) without perseverance is a waste of time, as it leaves one empty-handed from a mountain of treasures. The second fault is greediness; when only one or two postures are taught during a lesson and practiced properly, progress occurs. However, if too many postures are introduced, or if the lesson isn’t practiced, confusion arises. The third fault is haste—one must remember that, like water flowing, things can’t be rushed. Hastily learning the art of Tai Chi Chuan can result in building a foundation on sand, which will eventually crumble. Instead, by learning traditional Tai Chi slowly, it will make perfect sense. If students can eliminate these faults, the benefits of their Tai Chi instruction will be infinite.
